The Finished Room!

Sorry I'm just now getting the finished product up, we were on vacation last week. I really loved the way it turned out.  Someone was supposed to get a picture of her face when she first saw it because I had to leave before she got home, but that didn't happen.  Oh well, she loved it so much she said she was crying...so I'd have to say I did good...lol.

After the painting David couldn't stand that there were spots on the trim...granted some was pink so he tapped off what he didn't like and painted the trim.

After he got all the trip done we started with the dresser...

Then we went on to the bed.

These were ALL day projects!  We did them on the 4th, and then finished getting everything ready on the 5th.  I didn't think we'd get it done but we did!

When we moved in the bed was too long so we took off the closet door so she could get in her closet.  Now that you can see into the closet David put up a folding door for her.  She was excited about that.

The room set up...

We haven't put up the mirror yet because we wanted to know where she wanted it. I just happened to be looking around Lowes when I found the mirror and the rug to match.  (She's got a burn spot under the rug...but we won't go there!) I found the dirty clothes basket and hangers to match at Big Lots.  I was so excited!

To decorate she wanted to put sayings all over her wall...she picked out a bunch!  For her birthday I've asked that they get her these sayings...most can be purchased on Amazon.  So we've had a few come in already.  I wanted her to wait until I was there to help her put them on, but she couldn't wait, so with the help of Jessie she got a few up.

There are still more she wants, and plenty of room to put them...Thanks to everyone who ordered some for her!  And thanks for mom for getting her comforter set and curtain...I think her 15th birthday will be a good one!

Day 4 - No kids!

So today has been a long day!  We are both working on 4 hours sleep and now are exhausted so this post is going to be short.  I do have pics but to tired to upload them.

Today we got the furniture put together and the corners taped off to make them nice and straight.  David's also going to paint some of the trim where it has pink on it.

Ok too tired to think, I'm going to bed it's going to be a long day tomorrow and I still have to make sure I have everything packed for Gatlinburg.

Day 3 - No kids

This day has been a long one!  I had my alarm set at 7:30 so I could get up and get a bath before I headed out to get Taylor's furniture and the paint for her room.  I was so excited I found some things to match at Big Lots.  I got her hangers, and a laundry basket.  Then when I got to Lowes I found even more stuff to match!  They had a throw rug that's going to be just big enough to cover up the burn on the carpet, and a mirror!  The mirror is one that hangs over the door but her door is up to high so I'm going to see if I can't get David to put it up some other way.  I have complete faith in him that he can do it.  They also had some shelves at Lowes I was looking at but I wanted David with me before I got them.  Today I've been working on getting the rest of the stuff out of her room and started on Caiden's room some.  I think David and I have decided we're going to re-arrange Caiden's room so that we can fit both dressers in there and one of the book shelves.  I might possibly use one of the book shelves from Taylor's old bed in her room, but I haven't decided yet.  the rest of her furniture is going to be white and it's a pale wood color.

Anyway currently we have the first coat of blue on (I'm writing now because I wanted to share the pics and I've got to wait for that first coat to dry before I put the second coat on).  I have 2 coats of the green on already, but once it's all dry tomorrow I'll need to do some touch up.  Here are a few pictures.

The lighting is bad so the colors look a little off, plus the blue was just done and not quite dry yet.

This is the last of the pink.  To me this signifies my little girl is growing up and is no longer a little girl but a young woman.  She'll be 15 the end of this month.  I can't believe it.  It was just yesterday she was riding around in a pink Barbie Jeep and now she's about to start driving.

I did the green earlier today so the color is a little better.  The first 2 pics are of the first coat and the last ones you can see where I still need to touch it up.  I didn't like doing the green it seemed harder then the blue did.  Maybe because I was doing it wrong and needed the guidance of my husband...lol.

Ok that's it for the night.  I've got to go and put a second coat on the blue.

Day 2 - No Kids!

So today wasn't a productive day in the Abyss (AKA Taylor's room) but it was a fun day.

I had my nails done...patriotic!

Then mother and I went shopping...we found some clothes but most importantly for Taylor's birthday mom got her a new bed set.  I was hoping to do her room in purple and green but now we're going with blue and green.  Tomorrow morning I'm getting up early and I've got to get the bed and the paint.  I can't wait to get it finished!

We couldn't found any curtains so we got a shower curtain that was the same design.

Ok, that's it for tonight.  When I say early I'm talking 7:30 and that's WAY early for me...:)

Day 1 - No Kids!!!

Wow!  I do have to say it has been a productive day!

Today I've done 2 loads of laundry...well I put them in the washer and the dryer...still have to fold both loads...lol.

We finally got the pool up...now to fill it!

I started on Taylor's room I have most everything put up or off the walls, and the bed taken apart.  While cleaning out one of the shelves I found cat food.  Now I have a few questions on that one.  1. How long has it been there???  We haven't had a cat in what 5 years.  2. Was she trying to lure a cat into her room to catch the mice she has living in her closet? 3. Where all the sunflower seeds masking the smell of the cat food so that the ants didn't know they were there?  *Shake my head*
I still have a ways to go but it's a start!

I've also done 2 loads of dishes...the first set were all from David yesterday.  How is it one man can dirty up so many dishes?  The second load was what I couldn't fit in the first...lol.  I bet the rest of the week we'll probably run the dishwasher 1 more time.

And I missed all my shows tonight! I missed them all yesterday too...I love DVR's!

Ok that's it for the night.  I'm going to take a bath and then go to bed.  I'm heading over to mom's tomorrow to have some girl time!

Hopefully a pool cometh....

We've got a pool!  When I got the pool from the store I couldn't wait to get it home and set it up and go swimming.  And like most things, I didn't stop and think about it before I brought it home...lol.  We don't have a level spot in our yard.  We have somewhat of a level spot but it's between our hours and the next door neighbors and they have 3 little boys so I didn't feel safe putting it there.  I would hate if something happened to the boys.  So now we are going to put it in the back yard and fence it off.  BUT we have a slope for a back yard.  So my wonderful husband has come up with a plan!  He's making a place to level off.

Now we have to get the crush and run delivered.  We also plan on making a patio next to it.  The railroad ties for that have been there since we moved in.  Anyway I can't wait to get it done!
