Day 28 - 4/28/13

Ok, so I didn't finish out the week strong like I would have liked, but I did get in at least my 150 mins.

Here's the breakdown:

4/23 - 25 mins
4/24 - 12 mins
           19 mins
4/25 - 26 mins
4/26 - 29 mins
4/27 - 11 mins
           15 mins
4/28 - 17 mins
           13 mins
          167 mins

However I do think I have one in there that's not counted for...so it could be more.  Either way I did hit the 150 min mark.

Day 25 - 4/25/13

Today was a good day!  I did a mile in under 20 minutes and I did 5 laps around the track instead of 4. Now if I could just get into a steady pace.  I go between 2.5 and 4 mph while I'm walking...lol

Here's my times for the week so far:

4/23/13 - 6:13 PM - 6:38 PM = 25 Mins
4/24/13 - 5:45 PM - 5:57 PM = 12 Mins
               10:27 PM - 10:46 PM = 19 Mins
4/25/13 - 6:47 PM - 7:01 PM = 14 Mins (Not counting this one not sure what the whole time was)
               8:07 PM - 8:33 PM = 26 Mins
For a total of : 82 Mins so far this week

I'm still shooting for 175 this week so I need 93 More mins.  I can do that!

Day 24 - 4/24/13

Not much really to report but I felt like I should touch base.  This week I've started slowly.  I didn't get a chance to walk on Monday but I did walk Tuesday while Taylor was at dance.  Tonight we got one lap around the block before it started to rain.  My whole problem walking around the block is the hills, they are killing my knees.  I've also decided I need new shoes.  I have a pair of the toning shoes that "rock" but I think they are hurting my knees as well.  That will have to wait until next payday!

Day 21 - 4/21/13

So today is the final day, last week they said I didn't get in my 150 mins, which I don't think is true, so this week I'm going to put down here what I've done so I can match it against theirs.  Here is my walk log for the week...

4/15/13 - 9:08 AM - 9:19 AM = 11 mins
               6:31 PM - 6:55 PM = 24 mins
4/16/13 - 6:45 PM - 7:09 PM = 24 mins
4/18/13 - 8:01 PM - 8:23 PM = 22 mins
4/19/13 - 2:22 PM - 2:34 PM = 12 mins
                6:33 PM - 6:45 PM = 12 mins
4/20/13 - 10:49 PM - 11:04 PM = 18 mins
4/21/13 - 1:50 PM - 2:07 PM = 17 mins
                6:16 PM - 6:36 PM = 20 mins
                6:50 PM - 7:02 PM = 12 mins
                                       Total = 172!!!!!!

That's just 3 mins shy of my goal of 175 this week!!!!  Woo HOO!!!!!

NR Post about Painting!

So this doesn't have anything to do about my walking but I wanted to post pics of what my living room looks like right now...lol.

Looks like an episode of Hoarders!

Day 18 - 4/18/13

Today has been a long day!  Yesterday 4/17/13 I woke up with a killer sinus headache that I couldn't get rid of...and wouldn't you know it that day I had tons of work to do!  BLAH!  I didn't walk on Wednesday though and I could tell.  I just couldn't get out in the pollen...I know I could have walked in the house, but I think I like walking outside better.  Still up in the air on that one.
Here's the pollen counts for Atlanta...I'm wondering since I'm out in the country and not in the city if ours wouldn't be higher!  ACK!

So yeah!  Pollen is high!

Anyway, today after getting up I did a little work, I crocheted a little, and then helped my brother do a little sanding on my living room.  He's painting it for us.  I can't wait to see how it turns out.
After the sanding we had cub scouts.  Today we played kickball, and there were so few there that the kids were the ones kicking and the adults were all in the outfield...it was funny.  After cub scouts the kids and I went down to the track and walked I'm so pumped that I can make the mile mark. I also love that I can track the distance with my Zombie, Run! app.  Here's what tonight walk looks like.  I have to tell you that I resumed 1 mission and it only had like a min left on it...lol.  So there are 2 mission pics here.

This is the min of the first mission.  My top speed was 3.48 mph.  This one doesn't look bad with my speed...wait until the next one it's up and down...lol.

Here's the main part of the walk, you can see my speed is up and down but usually stays above 2 mph which I think is what I should be doing...hopefully anyway.  I'll find out later.

After tonight I have 81 mins in walking for the week.  I'm shooting for 175 this week so that I make sure I have 150 in.

Day 15 - 4/15/13

Ok, so I've decided that I'm not going to post everyday....lol.  I was going to post my walking progress for last week but forgot to write it down before I turned in my sheet.  I'll get an email later this week with the info on it and I'll post it later.  Let me tell you about today.  I was planning on getting up at 5 AM so that I could walk a little and take a bath before I had to leave at 6 AM to make it down to Atlanta by 8:30.  Can I just say  I hate driving in Atlanta?  The whole time my brother telling me I needed to get into the far left lane...that's 15 million lanes away and I had to travel through 15 billion cars to get that.  I was fine where I was but he didn't think so...lol.

Check out the traffic in the mirror...and yes I was sitting still while I took out my phone and took this picture!

When we got to the VA Hospital I let my brother out and drove to the top of the parking deck.  I took the time waiting on him to do a little walking.  But not just any walking!  I took the elevator down so that I could use the bathroom and walked all the way up the 5 levels of parking deck.  So I got some walking in, I got up to the top but didn't get in 10 mins so I walked down a flight of stairs and back up the last level.  I got in a total of 11 mins on that walk.

Tonight I had to go and turn in my monitor so we (my brother, Taylor, Caiden and I) decided to walk the track while we were there.  I turned on the gps on the Zombies! Run! app and this is what it turned out as...

I have the app set to miles but for some reason it shows kilometers on the web site.  What I find funny is the fact that there isn't much of a straight line on the track...lol.  I took my minutes from the time I turned it on at the red dot all the way to the grey dot.  This where I actually stopped walking and got into the car.  I just let this mission play on so I could go to the next one...this one wasn't playing right not sure why.  Anyway, this distance gave me 24 mins for a total today of 25 mins!

Day 10 - 4/10/13

DOH!  I thought I had only missed 1 day of posting, I can't believe it's been 2.  So sorry about that.  I am a slacker some days.  I've been busy crocheting late at night and forget to post.  I was so excited yesterday too at the amount of time I walked.  While I don't remember everything I ate and what times I did what I do have my walking times down.  For Monday I only walked 16 mins, I was taking it easy that day.  Yesterday I walked a total of 58 mins!  I couldn't believe it.  I didn't know I was that close to 60 mins or else I would have walked that extra 2 mins somewhere.  So far today this is my schedule:

11:20 AM - Woke up, took a shower and washed my hair.  After that I went to pick up Caiden's school work, go to the post office and to the store.
1:30 PM - Breakfast/Lunch - Chicken Pot Pie, fried okra and mac and cheese.  I also had a roll and 1 Pepsi.
2:00 PM - 1 Mini Pecan pie.
6:33 PM - 6:59 PM - Walked the track.  (I think we decided it was 3 laps, we didn't bother to count)

So far today I've had 1 - 28 oz bottle of water.  But I've started well into my second one.

I did end up finishing my second one!  Woo hoo! And started on a third!

Day 7 - 4/7/13

Today has been a long day!  I had to take my sisters dog back to her and pick up my daughter from Nana's.  We went over there and met them at a buffet.  I did pretty good, but I know it wasn't good for me. After lunch we went to search for prom dresses for Jessie.  We made her try on a lot, most looked cute on her but she didn't like them, so she still is dressless...lol.  Then we went to Nana's to pick up Taylor's things and stayed there for a bit.  When we got home Jaycob was home with Nathan, and Jaycob and David were grilling.   YUM!!!

Ok, here's my schedule for the day...

10:00 - Woke up
10:30 - On the road to Gainesville
12:00 - Lunch - Chinese Buffet...can't really remember everything I had but it was only 1 plateful. Water
4:57 - 5:13 PM - Walked for a total of 16 mins
5:30 - Dinner - 1 BBQ Rib, 1 Cheeseburger, and about 1/2 a potato.  I had a Pepsi for Dinner.
9:30 - BAD! - Turtle Molten Lava Cake from Sonic

Wednesday - 44 mins - This is the day I got up at 6 AM and walked.
Thursday - 20 mins

For a grand total of...... 162 mins!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I did it!  I'm so excited!  I can't believe I made it...and this doesn't count the times I was speed walking to keep up with my brother in Walmart...lol.

Next week I start eating salads, I've been craving a salad all week.

Ok, I'm going to go take a bath and probably go to bed.  It's been a long day!

Good Night!

Day 6 - 4/7/13

Today was a good day for the most part.  I did get 2 walking sessions in.  I've been doing the walking with Leslie Sansone off of YouTube.  She keeps you motivated and going.  I'm still at 20 mins at a time in walking but I'm getting better.  So far for the week I have a total of 134 mins so far and I just need 150.  If I get 2 more 20 min sessions in tomorrow I'll have over my 150 and that is a major accomplishment!  I feel good too!

Here's today's schedule:
11:00 AM - Wake up
12:26 - 12:46 PM - Walked
2:40 PM - Lunch - David took me to La Parrilla and I had 1 Chicken Chimichanga w/cheese, some of the lettuce and some of the sour cream.  The beans were too runny so I didn't eat much of them, and I also had some chips, cheese and salsa. Coke
7:00 PM - Sonic Lemonberry Slush
9:45 PM - Dinner - Chicken Cordon Blue, Chicken Broccoli and Cheese, Tater tots.
So far today I've had 28 oz of water and I'm working on my second bottle so I'll have 2 - 28 oz of bottles total.

I also got 2 loads of laundry washed, my second pillow done for Cathy's Hook Club - Spring Fling Pillow, and I've been to the store 2 times (3 if you want to count the fact that I had to go back because I forgot my debit cards).

Ok, I'm going back to crocheting.  Good night!

Day 5 - 4/5/13

Today I was bad today.

8:21 AM - We left the house to run a few errands.
12:30 PM - Breakfast - Arby's Three Cheese & Bacon  sandwich w/Curly fries.  I didn't eat all of it though because we had a puppy eat Caiden's sandwich so I had to share.  I also have 1/2 a coke.
5:20 PM - Lunch - TTC
9:45 PM - Dinner - Chick-Fil-a sandwich and a yogurt parfait with granola

I've also had 1 - 28oz of Water.

I didn't do any walking today.  I was just too sore and tired.  Tomorrow I'll do my walking though, So far I have 94 mins and I need at least 150.  So I have 2 more days to get in 56 more mins in.

Day 4 - 4/4/13

So today I got a late start to the day...then again I didn't go to sleep until almost 4:30 AM.

Here are the events for the day:

1:23 PM - Woke Up

3:00 PM - Ate Breakfast/Lunch
Homemade Enchiladas with Sour Cream, Fried                                              Potatoes, and one 12 oz can of Pepsi

5:18-5:38 PM - Walked 20 mins (2077 steps)  I don't have a regular pedometer but I have an app on my phone called Zombies! Run!  Each mission is about 30 mins long but I can't quite do 30 mins yet...but I'm shooting for 2 weeks from now to be able to do it.  Hopefully that's not an unrealistic goal.

Well I forgot to write down the rest of what I had yesterday, and now I don't remember.  I know I didn't get in bed until about 3:45 AM.  I was busy crocheting.

Joining the PACE Project!

The other day I get an email from the University of GA about a "Walking Intervention".  This is what the email had to say about the study...

"As you may have heard, overweight and obesity rates are increasing exponentially. This project will look at physical activity and nutrition behaviors among women between the ages of 25 and 45, and how these factors relate to body composition, quality of life, stress, fatigue, depression, self-esteem, and body image. This information will be used to develop programs and interventions aimed at helping adults learn more about weight management and its effects on their lives.....

You also will participate in a moderate intensity walking program with other women for an 8-week period. You will be encouraged to attend 3-5 sessions per week for a total of 150-250 min/week of moderate intensity activity – the amount currently recommended for maintaining a weight and preventing weight gain."

immediately got excited!  This is just the push I need to get back into shape and take a few pounds off.  So I signed up with my fingers crossed that I would actually qualify for the study!  A couple of days later I got the confirmation email that I was accepted!

For the study I went to the school so they could do a few tests.  When he asked me to step on the scale I cringed!  I have been eating nothing but candy and drinking Pepsi since the first of the year and knew I was FAT!  When he told me how much it was I just wanted to crawl under a rock...I can't believe I'm as fat as I am...but working at home and not getting any exercise and  eating the way I do I wasn't too shocked.  The worst part of the testing was getting on the treadmill.  I couldn't even make it a total of 5 mins walking at different speeds.  (Granted on the highest speed I did get a little freaked out because they had me hooked up to a contraption to monitor my breathing and I thought I was going to fall off the end.) So we stopped the test early.  I didn't like that contraption they had me hooked too, I couldn't look down and it dried out my mouth and throat and had me coughing for a good 20 mins afterwards.  Before I did the test on the treadmill they did a full body scan.  I had to lay there and be still while the machine scanned my body.  I was so uncomfortable.  I had to hold my arms to my sides and all they wanted to do was flop off the table.  But I made it through it.  I then had to wait!  Oh I also have to wear this monitor for the times I'm awake, it keeps track of my activity for the day.

The waiting to start walking was a few weeks.  Last week they did a baseline.  I was to do everything I normally did in order for them to see where I started from.  I was ready to start walking last week, but I didn't...lol.

This week started the first week of walking.  I'm so sore but I love the fact that I'm up and moving!

Here are a few pictures I took last week...they are going to be my "Before" pictures, and I hope to have some much better "After" pictures!

I have clothes on because I don't want to submit anyone to the torture...lol.

So Monday we started walking, I didn't think to start posting on the blog until tonight.  I have a sheet to fill out everyday for a record of what walking I'm doing and when I'm wearing the device, but it doesn't keep up with what I eat.  So I'm going to use this blog to post that everyday.  (Or at least I hope) This will keep me accountable to myself.  It will also help me see what I've been doing and what I need to change.  One thing I'm working on is cutting out the candy, sweets, and Pepsi.  I've also been drinking a lot more water then I was before.  I can tell a difference in that too.  I do have to have at least 1 Pepsi a day though...lol.  Can't go cold turkey.

Since the first three days are over with I'm going to start tomorrow with keeping up with what I eat.  This week it's going to be stuff that I probably shouldn't, but David had gone to the store before I had a chance to tell him what I wanted.  Right now though, I want a big old salad with grilled chicken!!!

That's all for tonight...it's time for bed!
Goodnight
